What is EFT and MR?

Emotional Freedom Technique and Matrix ReImprinting

Emotional Freedom Technique

In short, EFT is like emotional acupuncture without needles. Tapping on certain meridian points brings down the emotions and allows us to work on any emotional, physical or performance issue you can imagine. It is also known as Tapping.

No Guarantees

Whilst I can never promise a guaranteed outcome, I have seen it work so incredibly well on so many diverse issues that, as a therapy, it is worth giving it a go and applying it to almost anything and see what happens.

Why have a therapist?

You can learn this for yourself, for free, using the website of the original founder of EFT: Gary Craig at emofree.com When you have a session with me I will certainly encourage you and show you how to tap for yourself. However, having a therapist to guide you can help you to keep focused and get faster results. As a trained, qualified and experienced professional, there are skills I can bring to the session which provide you the safe space to share, explore and clear.

How many sessions do I need?

Sometimes one or two sessions are enough to clear an issue such as a fear or a craving. It is impossible to say and depending on what you want to achieve. Time and again I have seen a one-off quick ten minutes can be enough for someone to give up a craving for chocolate and another person may have other issues so interconnected that a number of sessions are needed. However, along the way there will be a number of issues that will be cleared. There may also come a point where you feel you can carry on tapping for yourself and do not need a therapist, or you may feel that you would like to have a regular session for a period of time until you have cleared out all the baggage. At all times I want you to be in control and not dependent on me.

Matrix ReImprinting

Matrix ReImprinting (MR) was developed from EFT by Karl Dawson and takes EFT to a completely different level and transforms memories. We can not undo what has happened but how we feel about it can be changed. This process allows you to create vivid new pictures that replace the old. Using this method, the impossible is possible which frees us to be able to move forward.

Do I have to choose between EFT and MR?

No! It will be apparent to me during a session which tools are best at any given time. So in practice I could use just one or the other or both as needed. In any case, there is a great deal of overlap especially as classical EFT does the work on reducing the intensity around bad events, and is perfect for many aspects, it is the Matrix ReImprinting that can allow you to fill the void with good feelings and your own special “pictures”.

Is it better in person or by Skype?

Skype has the benefits of you being able to have the session in a safe and discreet place without taking too much time out of your day. It also means that you do not have to be local and to travel. It is lovely to be able to sit in my cosy treatment room and have me tap on you, but equally, results are just as good when you are guided by me and you tap on yourself. In fact, many therapists find they get better results over Skype or the phone.

When EFT does not work

EFT does not require you to believe in it but it does need you to not actively disbelieve it! The tapping that has been done will have had some positive effects.

The magic bullet?

EFT and Matrix ReImprinting are remarkably fast, effective and painless  suitable for tapping on so many different types of issues.  And if it doesn’t seem to work to not at first assume it is the EFT that is at fault because we may not be clear enough in how we are doing.

On the other hand, I think it is important to remember that we all have our journeys and that there is never one magic bullet to cure all. There are other therapies out there and it is always your choice as to which path you feel is best at that moment.
